Best Music Videos of June 2018
Just incase you have not had the time to watch music videos this past month, I have.
From rap to trap to a video or girls kissing, I would like to share with you, my top music videos for June (As usual they are totally subject to debate)!!. From my least, to the best, look through.
I hear Tripp’s music and think of A$AP Rocky or Lil Yatchy. This time it’s Yatchy. Trippy are the only words to define the visuals for “BOOM”.
He pops up at the beginning of the video talking. There’s soon a child look alike to him playing with toys.
I’ve always been a fan of trippy music and it’s videos end world peace. Check the link below to watch these visuals.
One group I have always found appealing for female collaboration, is Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj on a joint piece; they’ve always made magic. The light is coming is a fab from me this year and it’s video won my heart even more.
A forest staged video, opens with Nicki rapping she ditches to Ariana who sings her part while dancing and running around the forest.
A major plus for this video is the level of playfulness behind it. Not so much seriousness yet enjoyable. Typical Ariana, Watch Below!
Not a Selena fan, but definitely in love with the concept behind the creation of this video. The kind of song it is, not my type but I’d watch the video over and over again.
A funny, playful and French set. Selena starts a great relationship with a not so common pick up line, “Do you want to steal a car?”
She and her new found lover steal the car and are seen traveling round the world. They then realize they are soon wanted for stealing. Like a time loop, they burn the car and mysteriously go back to the party, where they are seen acting like total strangers again.
They meet up with Serena asking “Do you want to steal a car”. They laugh and scurry away.
If you’re a love bird, this video is for you.
RITA ORA – GIRLS FT. CARDI B, BEBE REXHA, CHARLIE XCX
In view of the just concluded “PRIDE MONTH”. This song is dedicated to you all. On the first listen of this song, there was a whole lot of liking and kissing girls, so I was patiently waiting for it’s video and boom!
Rita Ora did not disappoint. She is poised as a goddess surrounded by beautiful women, talking about her love for women.
Bebe Rexha and Charlie XCX come into the picture a little later at different times, both dressed in suits while they sings
Woah there’s a ton of girls in this video. Aero does not show up physically and this might be due to her being heavily pregnant. Although she’s a hologram instead, while she makes seductive advances to Rita Ora. THEY KISS.
Happy Post Pride month!
JAY ROCK – OSOM FT. J COLE
Gray concept, great visuals. Te vide opened with J Cole and Jay Rock arguing after J Rock is seen washing blood off his hands.
There are kilos of both men, robbing a bank ad walking off briskly.
The story behind this video teaches that being paranoid does not necessarily mean that people are after you.
“Outta Sight, Outta Mind”. They portray that they went for a robbery but are on edge for the fear of being recognized, constantly watching their backs and being uncomfortable.
They finally meet up to talk and get shot by masked men.
The carters dropped “Everything is Love” in June and it didn’t live up to our expectation.
“Ape shit” showers the trap sir to Bet and It’s video is 10/10.
THEY RENTED OR THE LOUVRE; that’s a whole new level of class displayed. Their music video was a surprise to many.
There is a domineering “blackity” in this video. Is that why it was titled “ape shit”.
The video opera up with the power couple using the famous “Monalisa” painting as their background. Jay and Bet are also seen being ‘in love’ holding hands and laughing all through. Though Quavo gave the adlibs, he wasn’t seen in the video.
Canada’s best boy, Drake dropped vials for his hit song, I’m upset. Thumbs up to the brain behind this concept.
Drake used his video “I’m Upset” as a reunion for the Degrassi cast. He didn’t just use some people, IT’S EVERY SINGLE ONE.
For those wondering what Degrassi is, it’s drama Drake used to cast in back in Canada. He played Jimmy.
The video opens up, who with Drake on the bed with with a woman, and the bed is on the Toronto Raptors basketball court for weird reasons.
He gets up and starts to get ready for his high school reunion. No one would have thought that he was going to cast the crew of Degrassi, but he did. The video is exactly what a reunion is supposed to be.
XXXTENTACION – SAD
This is the saddest music video I have ever had to watch. Just after he died, the music video for Sad was published. The video came out a day after his open casket memorial.
Everyone who has watched this video has been in shock; I know I was.
Released on Thursday (June 28), the scary video shows the rapper tasked with defeating himself as a way to end the negative energy in the world and spread positivity. While attending his own funeral, his body comes from the casket and attacks him.
X also wrote and creative directed the video, which is narrated by a hooded figure that speaks to him during the visual. “You are your own worst enemy and you seem unbothered,” the figure says at one point.
Throughout the video, X fights another version of himself that sports his famous half-black, half-white hair, using powers to throw his alter-ego against the wall. The video end with X winning the battle over himself but trying to grasp that he was finally able to defeat his demons.
RIP JAHSEH DWAYNE ONFROY aka XXXTENTACION, you will be missed.
That’s it guys! Watch this space same date, next month for the best music videos for July 2018.
